In this article, we'll give you an introduction to the program and help you understand what it covers.

You'll also learn about how to qualify for Medicare, what to expect when you enroll in the program, and some of the benefits that are available.

If you're aged 65 or older, or have a disability, Medicare is an important part of your healthcare coverage. So read on, and we'll teach you everything you need to know about this important health insurance program.

Before we begin: What is Medicare?

Medicare is a government health insurance program that primarily helps people over the age of 65 and those with disabilities.

It offers coverage for hospital stays, doctor visits, prescription drugs, and other medical services.

What are the parts of Medicare?

Medicare has four parts: Part A (Hospital Insurance), Part B (Medical Insurance), Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans), and Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage).

Before we go over what each part covers.

Medicare Part A and B are offered through the Government and Part C and D are offered through Private Insurance companies (However, they must be approved by the Government and follow certain guidelines).

What is Medicare Part A

Medicare Part A is hospital insurance. It helps pay for inpatient care in hospitals, including room and board, surgery, X-rays, lab tests, and hospital stays.

What is Medicare Part B?

Medicare Part B is a health insurance program that helps pay for medically necessary services. Part B helps cover services like doctor visits, preventive care, and outpatient hospital care.

What is Medicare Part C?

Medicare Part C is also known as the Medicare Advantage Plan. It is a type of health insurance plan that is offered by private companies. These plans must follow the rules set forth by Medicare, but can offer more benefits than traditional Medicare. For example, many Part C plans include prescription drug coverage and dental and vision care.

What is Medicare Part D?

Medicare Part D is a prescription drug plan offered by the federal government to help Medicare beneficiaries pay for prescription drugs. The program was created in 2003 as a part of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act. Participation in Part D is voluntary, but most Medicare beneficiaries choose to enroll. There are many different Part D plans available, and beneficiaries can choose the plan that best meets their needs. The program is funded by premiums paid by enrollees and by the federal government.

How to Enroll into Medicare?

To enroll in Medicare, you must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident and have been enrolled in Social Security for at least 10 years. You can sign up for Medicare during the seven-month period that begins three months before your 65th birthday and ends three months after your birthday.

However, there are unique situation when you can sign up either before or after your 65th birthday depending on certain life circumstances. (For more information, get access to the free presentation below).

How Much Does Medicare Cost?

Medicare is funded by a combination of monthly premiums paid by beneficiaries, as well as general tax revenue.

As long as you paid into Medicare taxes for 10 years or 40 quarters, Medicare Part A has no cost and you are entitled to benefits at 65.

The average monthly premium for Medicare Part B is approximately $170 per month.

However, most people do not pay this full amount. About 70% of people with Medicare receive help from the government to pay their premiums. (Call today and talk to a Medicare Mentor to see if you qualify for a Part B Premium reduction).
